First Time?
Yes, we know the process of attending anything for the first time can be scary! Do you have to talk? Do you have to announce that you are gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender – or that someone in your life is gay or transgender? Do you have to become a member, sign up for a committee, or march in the next Gay Pride Parade? Will we ask you for money?We want to answer these sorts of questions for you before you come in the door, and relieve as much potential anxiety as we can.Participation in the conversation is voluntary. We want to get to know you and how you are comfortable being a part of the group. We are here to listen!
There is no pressure to become a PFLAG member or activist unless it’s something that you really are ready for and want to do. Members of our Board are available to meet and talk individually, outside of the group, if you have any questions about how we operate or ways to get involved. Just ask!
We are here to provide support for those in need, help with education and resources, and celebrate milestones and successes! We are also here to help when the time comes that you want to take action and have a more active role in making our world a better place for everyone. At the start of our meetings we will introduce ourselves talk briefly about PFLAG and our purpose. Then, we may divide into smaller groups, (parents, LGBTQIA+ adults, and youth. Meetings run from 5:30-7:00 p.m.
